CourseWeaver and OpenStax Bundle Homework System with Textbooks

Bundle will bring powerful assessment engine to open-source textbooks

March 24, 2015

East Lansing, MI – CourseWeaver® and OpenStax are furthering their partnership by offering a bundled version of the printed OpenStax College physics textbook with CourseWeaver’s Homework System. The bundling brings together the most-powerful assessment engine, with the fastest growing open educational resource publisher of peer-reviewed textbooks in the world. The Homework System contains all homework, quizzes and tests that go along with the textbook, ready-to-use, so that teachers can focus on teaching and learning rather than creating assessments and grading.

“We’re really exciting to be moving forward with our relationship with OpenStax. We see what they’re doing and genuinely believe that we’re on similar paths,” said CourseWeaver CEO Rob Fulk. “Bundling our Homework System with their textbooks will provide instructors a powerful set of tools and support network that we believe can greatly enhance their teaching and reduce teacher workload.”

This partnership once again exemplifies the vision of both companies in supporting and distributing high-quality, affordable and open content that reduces the burden on institutions and students alike. The OpenStax College Physics textbook is available and ready for immediate use, while the rest of the OpenStax offerings are being incorporated.

“Many students use Pell Grants to purchase their course materials through their college bookstore. By offering these physical bundles we’ll be able to make sure that all students have access to these high value and very low cost-resources all the time,” said David Harris, Editor-in-Chief for OpenStax. “Furthermore, the millions of students who enjoy OpenStax digital formats will still be able to access our online versions for free and purchase CourseWeaver’s homework system online.”
